Yes, Carnival season is in full swing here in the beautiful island of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The opening parade took place on January 24th and showcased just a taste of what is to come on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, the 16th and 17th of February. So far all the main pageants have happened and I must say congratulations to the lovely young ladies. The Calypso finals are carded for the 14th.
Let’s go into the various pageants.
The 2015 Carnival Princess is Ltyleen Julien of the St. Luke’s Primary School. She got the awards for Best Talent, Best in Costume and Best in Party Dress.
1st Runner up- Sarai Paul of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School (Miss Photogenic)
2nd Runner up- Kaylyn Lestrade of the St. Martin Primary School (Miss Intelligence)
3rd Runner up- Aquila Charles of the Roseau Primary School.
Mis Congeniality was Nixia Matthew of the Goodwill Primary School
Miss Teen Dominica 2015 is Lecreesha Wallace of the Portsmouth Secondary School. She took home the awards for Best Speech and Best Evening Wear.
1st Runner up was Aniel Pacquette of the Pierre Charles Secondary School. Miss Pacquette took home the awards for Best Spectacular Creation and Best in Spectacular Creation, as well as Best in Evening Wear and Best Response to Question.
2nd Runner up was Tonilia Elie of the Convent High School (my alma mata). She got the award for Best Performing Talent.
Miss Congeniality was awarded to Ambrosia Jno Baptiste, while Sunzhara Liburd Banks took home the award for Miss Photogenic.

National Queen Show-
Now this is the most awaited pageant in Dominica, Miss Dominica will represent the country in various pageants across the region.
Miss Dominica 2015, is Miss Odessa Elie. I feel very proud because I do know her personally and she also attended the Convent High School where she actually presently teaches at. Odessa took home 6 awards; Miss Photogenic, Best Costume, Best Performing Talent, Best Swim Wear, Best in Swim Wear and Best Response to Question.
First Runner Up was Miss Kelcia Righton, who took home three awards of her own. These are, Best in Costume, Best Evening Wear and Best in Evening Wear.
The Second Runner Up was Miss Patrice Dorsette.
Miss Amity was awarded to Miss Keianna John.
